Using the choicest hand-picked Semillon and Shiraz from the family-owned Lovedale vineyards, and combining modern and traditional winemaking techniques, Saltire delivers outstanding quality at a great price.

Why the name Saltire?  It’s not just a nod to our Scottish heritage; this venerable, ancient symbol stirs the blood, evokes pride and above all, demands and commands allegiance.

    Lovedale

    Vintage Conditions

A near perfect Hunter Valley vintage. Generous rainfall promoted vigorous growth and an even crop. Mid to late summer was warm and dry with the Hunter escaping the worst of the heatwaves seen in Victoria and South Australia. Ideal conditions at harvest allowed picking of perfect fruit at the right time – very good wines with classic flavours and intensity.

    Shiraz

    Maturation

Fermented in French and American oak.

    Colour

    Deep plum with ruby hues.

    Nose

Lashings of Hunter Valley cracked pepper, bramble fruit and liquorice notes. Spiced cherry and cedar tones develop in the glass, released with a swirl.

    Palate

A rich, dark and intense Hunter Shiraz showing the best of the great 2012 vintage year. Spicy cherry and black pepper notes entice you to a classic palate of leathery Shiraz framed by a fine oak backbone. The long, generous finish cries out for large glasses.
