Stroll to the Coos: Meeting Our Furry Favorites in the New 2026 Festival Layout

A Furry Favourite Returns to Saltire Estate in 2026

The Highland Games Hunter Valley is back in 2026, and alongside the pipes, dancing, and stone throws, one beloved attraction is making a highly anticipated return—the Highland coos. These iconic Scottish cattle will once again roam the grounds of Saltire Estate, offering visitors a chance to see these gentle, shaggy animals up close.

This year, we are shaking things up with a brand-new event layout designed to maximize the fun and bring everyone closer to the energy. We’ve completely reimagined the flow of the festival grounds to create a more vibrant, connected atmosphere. As part of this fresh design, the coos' paddock area is beautifully integrated into the heart of the estate, making it easier than ever to stroll on over and see them while you explore.

Known for their long horns, thick woolly coats, and calm temperament, Highland coos have become a massive crowd favourite at the games. Whether you’re bringing the family or exploring with friends, they are friendly, incredibly photogenic, and a perfect symbol of the Scottish spirit at the heart of the event.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Saltire Estate’s vineyards, the Highland coos add a rustic charm that makes the day even more memorable. Thanks to our new layout, you can grab a bite from the food trucks or step into our cellar door for a premium wine tasting, all while staying entirely connected to the festive atmosphere.

The Highland Games Hunter Valley is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of culture, community, and connection.

Join us at Saltire Estate to meet the Highland coos and experience the charm of Scotland in our beautifully redesigned festival layout. Get your tickets now for the 2026 Highland Games Hunter Valley!
