Welcome to Saltire Estate, a family-owned winery located in the heart of the Hunter Valley. Our wines are born out of a passion for this beautiful region and its connection to ancient Scotland.
The Hunter Valley is renowned for its world-class wines, and we're proud to be a part of this rich winemaking tradition. Our vineyard was originally part of the George Hunter Estate, established in the 1970s. Today, our Semillon, Shiraz, and Merlot vines are all that remain of this once sprawling 500-acre estate.
We're proud to honor the legacy of James Busby, the proud Scot known as the father of Australian wine. Busby brought 500 cuttings from Europe to Australia and planted them in the Hunter region of Belford, not far from Lovedale. It is from these vines that the majority of existing Hunter Valley vineyards were propagated.
At Saltire Estate, we're committed to providing great quality wine at an affordable price. We believe that great wine doesn't need to be expensive, and we work hard to provide exceptional value to our customers.
Our Cellar Door is furnished with second-hand furniture and wine barrels, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and reducing waste. We rely on word-of-mouth from our loyal customers rather than expensive marketing campaigns, and our small but dedicated team is always ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
Whether you're a seasoned wine lover or just starting to explore the world of wine, we invite you to visit us and experience the beauty and flavor of the Hunter Valley. Our Cellar Door is open Thursday through Sunday, and we look forward to welcoming you to Saltire Estate. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy our Hunter Valley wine tasting, explore our winery, and join us for the Lovedale Long Lunch.
